Measurement guide

A working guide to onboarding completion measurement

Use this page as a shared checklist before you book an audit or workshop. It mirrors how Cloudmeshpoint scopes engagements in Bangkok.

1. Write the completion sentence

Complete this line before opening analytics: “A user has finished onboarding when ___, within ___, excluding ___.” If two people fill the blanks differently, stop and facilitate agreement — that is often a Mapping or Workshop engagement.

2. List every first-session screen

Include tip carousels, permission explanations, KYC steps, and empty states. Mark which screens are optional. Optional screens that still fire “completion” events are a common source of inflated rates.

3. Checkpoint checklist

For each step on the path, answer the four questions below. Gaps become your measurement backlog.

Event exists?

Is there a named event for this checkpoint, or only a page view?

Owner named?

Who approves changes to the event when the screen redesigns?

Cohort clear?

Does the rate include guests, staff, or skipped personalisation?

4. Pair completion with an early return check

A finish line that nobody returns after is still a weak finish line. Note one early return checkpoint (for example day-one reopen or first repeat action) beside your completion definition. You do not need a full retention programme to keep that pairing honest.

5. Decide the engagement that fits

Bring your draft completion sentence

Even an incomplete sentence is enough for us to recommend the right engagement and a fixed quote.
